What to Expect from a Luxury Makeup Session in Rome

Before I confirm a date, I ask for a photograph.

Not a professional shot — a natural one, preferably without makeup. I need to see the skin tone, the bone structure, the features that will guide every decision I make. That image tells me more than any brief ever could. Once I have it, I check availability, and I send a personalised quote. Every session begins with that exchange — unhurried, specific, already tailored to you.

Where we work

Private sessions take place in one of two settings: a professional photography studio in central Rome, or your own space — a hotel room, a suite, wherever you are staying.

From a technical standpoint, the difference is minimal. What matters to me is that you are comfortable and that the result is exactly what it should be. That said, a professional studio offers something particular: dedicated lighting, a controlled environment, a setup that makes the entire experience feel like what it is — a professional appointment, not an improvisation.

If you prefer the intimacy of your hotel room, I ask only for a comfortable chair and enough space to work properly. I arrive early, set up my kit, and by the time you sit down, everything is ready.

Two hours, from beginning to end

A full session lasts approximately two hours. This is not negotiable, and it is not excessive — it is the time the work requires.

We begin with cleansing. I ask every client to arrive without makeup. Clean skin is the only foundation I can actually build on.

From there we move into Korean skincare — the step that most clients do not expect and almost universally appreciate. Toner, essence, targeted treatments, moisturiser applied in a specific order for your skin type. The goal is skin that is hydrated, balanced, and genuinely healthy before a single makeup product touches it. This preparation takes at least twenty-five minutes. It is not waiting time — it is the work itself.

Then, and only then, comes the makeup. Applied slowly, in layers, with products chosen for their quality rather than their coverage. Less product, more precision. The result should look like you — but on your best possible day.

One thing to remember before you arrive

I am a makeup artist. I do not do hair.

I mention this not to be dismissive, but because it matters for planning. If your session includes a hairstyle, you will need a separate professional. I work with trusted collaborators and am happy to recommend them, or you can arrange your own stylist. What I ask is that this is organised in advance — on the day of your session, my full attention belongs to your face.

The kit you will find waiting for you

I bring everything. Every product, every brush, every tool.

When you sit down, you will find my full kit laid out and ready — Chanel, Dior, Giorgio Armani Beauty, Lancôme, Hourglass, Charlotte Tilbury, among others. Clients who know their way around a perfume counter understand immediately what they are looking at. Clients who do not will understand it differently — in the quality of what they feel on their skin and see in the mirror.

I have tested every product on myself before it reaches a client. I know exactly how each one behaves, how it interacts with the products around it, how it reads under different lights. Nothing in my kit is there by accident.

About your reference photograph

Bring one if you have one. I will look at it carefully — not to replicate it, but to understand what you are drawn to, what feeling you are looking for.

If the reference shows something heavy, graphic, or far outside my aesthetic, I will tell you honestly. Not to dismiss your taste, but because my job is to give you something that works on your face, in real light, in real life — not a filtered image that belongs to someone else's bone structure and someone else's moment.

In practice, this conversation almost never becomes a conflict. The women who choose me already know what I do. They have seen my work. They come because they want exactly this — not a transformation, but a refinement.

What surprises people most

Almost every client comments on the same things: the preparation, the order, the calm.

I arrive before the appointment. My station is set up before you sit down. The products are arranged, the brushes are clean, everything has its place. For clients who have experienced rushed, improvised sessions elsewhere, this level of organisation is itself a kind of luxury.

And then there is the passion — which sounds like a small thing but is not. When someone genuinely loves what they do, you feel it. In the attention paid to a detail that most people would skip. In the extra minute spent on something that was already good enough. In the refusal to rush a step simply because the clock is moving.

What you take home

At the end of every session, I write a personalised skincare note — specific product recommendations and a daily routine tailored to your skin type and concerns.

For brides, this note often includes guidance for the month before the wedding: how to prepare the skin, what to avoid, what to prioritise. I advise against invasive treatments — laser procedures, aggressive peels — in the weeks before a significant event. Micro-lesions, sensitivity, unexpected reactions. The skin needs time, and time is the one thing you cannot rush.

For private clients, the note is a practical document: a starting point for better skin, long after the session is over.

How you should feel when you leave

This is the question I return to after every session.

Not how you look — though that matters — but how you feel. My intention is something close to what a good therapy session gives you: a quieter kind of confidence. The feeling of being seen clearly, and presented honestly. Not masked. Not transformed into someone more acceptable or more fashionable. Simply yourself, at your most luminous.
